# Emailit for Claude

> Connect Claude on claude.ai, Desktop and mobile with the Emailit connector, and Claude Code with the Emailit plugin or claude mcp add.

Emailit works with every Claude app through the [hosted MCP server](/docs/mcp/):

- **Claude** on claude.ai, Claude Desktop and mobile uses the **Emailit connector**.
- **Claude Code** uses the **Emailit plugin**, which adds the connector plus [skills](/docs/mcp/plugins-and-skills/) for domain setup, deliverability, campaigns, webhooks and SDK code.

Both sign in with your Emailit account. No API key is needed.

## Claude (claude.ai, Desktop and mobile)

1. **Browse connectors.** Go to **Settings > Connectors** and choose **Browse connectors**.

2. **Connect Emailit.** Search for **Emailit** and choose **Connect**.

3. **Sign in and choose workspaces.** Sign in to Emailit, choose the workspaces Claude can use and choose **Allow access**.

4. **Turn it on in a chat.** Open the tools menu in a chat and make sure Emailit is on.

If Emailit isn't in the directory yet, choose **Add custom connector** instead, name it Emailit and enter `https://api.emailit.com/mcp` as the URL.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization first. Members then connect their own Emailit account. Connectors added on claude.ai also appear in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps.

## Claude Code

Install the Emailit plugin from the Emailit marketplace:

```bash
claude plugin marketplace add emailit/emailit-plugins
claude plugin install emailit@emailit-plugins
```

Then run `/mcp`, select **emailit** and choose **Authenticate** to sign in.

To add only the server, without the skills:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http emailit https://api.emailit.com/mcp
```

For a headless setup, such as CI, use an [API key](/docs/developers/api-keys/) instead of signing in:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http emailit https://api.emailit.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer your_api_key"
```

## Try it

> "Which Emailit workspace am I connected to?"

> "Add mail.example.com and walk me through the DNS records for my provider."

> "Check why emails to outlook.com addresses are bouncing."

> "Write a Node.js webhook handler that verifies Emailit signatures."

Claude asks before it sends email or runs tools that change data, unless you allow them.

## Access and workspaces

Claude asks for full access by default. One connection covers every workspace you allowed. Name the workspace in your request, for example "In Acme Client, list the domains", and Claude runs that request there without changing its default. Ask "Switch to my Marketing workspace" to change the default.

Claude works with your role in each workspace. In workspaces where you're a Member, it can't manage API keys or delete domains. To change which workspaces Claude can use, open **Account → Connected apps** and choose **Edit access**. See [Workspaces and permissions](/docs/mcp/workspaces-and-permissions/).

## Disconnect

Open **Account → Connected apps** and choose **Revoke access** next to Claude. Claude loses access immediately. Removing the connector or running `claude mcp remove emailit` only removes it from Claude.

## Troubleshooting

**Claude Code shows "Needs authentication".** Run `/mcp`, select **emailit** and choose **Authenticate**.

**A tool says it needs full access.** Revoke the connection in **Connected apps**, then connect again and approve full access.

More fixes are in [MCP troubleshooting](/docs/mcp/troubleshooting/).
