# Emailit for Codex

> Connect OpenAI Codex to Emailit with the Emailit plugin or codex mcp add, then build and test email features from the agent.

Codex connects to the [hosted Emailit MCP server](/docs/mcp/) with the same Emailit plugin used in [ChatGPT](/docs/mcp/chatgpt/). The plugin adds the server plus [skills](/docs/mcp/plugins-and-skills/) for domain setup, deliverability, campaigns, webhooks and SDK code.

## Install the plugin

In the ChatGPT desktop app, open Codex, go to **Plugins**, search for **Emailit** and install it.

In the Codex CLI, add the Emailit marketplace:

```bash
codex plugin marketplace add emailit/emailit-plugins
```

Then run `/plugins`, install **Emailit** and sign in to Emailit when prompted.

## Add only the server

```bash
codex mcp add emailit --url https://api.emailit.com/mcp
codex mcp login emailit
```

`codex mcp login` opens a browser to sign in to Emailit, choose your workspaces and allow access.

The same entry in `~/.codex/config.toml`:

```toml title="~/.codex/config.toml"
[mcp_servers.emailit]
url = "https://api.emailit.com/mcp"
```

## Try it

> "Which Emailit workspace am I connected to?"

> "Add transactional email to this project with the Emailit Python SDK and send a test to me@example.com."

> "Create a webhook for email.bounced events that points at our staging endpoint, and write the signature check."

## Disconnect

Open **Account → Connected apps** and choose **Revoke access** next to Codex. Running `codex mcp logout emailit` only signs Codex out locally.

See the [tool reference](/docs/mcp/tools/) for everything Codex can do, and [MCP troubleshooting](/docs/mcp/troubleshooting/) if something doesn't work.
