# Emailit for Cursor

> Add Emailit to Cursor with one click or the Emailit plugin, then send email, set up domains and debug deliveries from the agent.

Connect Cursor to the [hosted Emailit MCP server](/docs/mcp/) to let the agent send email, set up domains, manage contacts and templates, and debug deliveries while you build. You sign in with your Emailit account, so there is no API key to store in your project.

## Add to Cursor

Click the button to add the Emailit server to Cursor:

[Add Emailit to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=emailit&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FwaS5lbWFpbGl0LmNvbS9tY3AifQ%3D%3D)

Cursor opens and asks you to confirm. Then go to **Settings > MCP**, choose **Connect** next to **emailit**, sign in to Emailit, pick your workspaces and choose **Allow access**.

If the button doesn't open Cursor, paste this link into your browser:

```text
cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=emailit&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FwaS5lbWFpbGl0LmNvbS9tY3AifQ==
```

## Install the Emailit plugin

The plugin adds the same server plus [skills](/docs/mcp/plugins-and-skills/) for domain setup, deliverability, campaigns, webhooks and SDK code, and a rule that keeps API keys out of your code.

1. **Install.** Open **Settings > Plugins** and search for **Emailit**, or type `/add-plugin emailit` in the agent chat.

2. **Connect.** Go to **Settings > MCP** and choose **Connect** next to **emailit** to sign in.

## Configure it manually

Add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project, or to `.cursor/mcp.json` in one project:

```json title="~/.cursor/mcp.json"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "emailit": {
      "url": "https://api.emailit.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

To load fewer tools, add toolsets to the URL, for example `https://api.emailit.com/mcp?toolsets=emails,domains,templates`. See [Toolsets and read-only mode](/docs/mcp/toolsets/).

For CI or a shared machine, use an [API key](/docs/developers/api-keys/) from an environment variable instead of signing in:

```json title=".cursor/mcp.json"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "emailit": {
      "url": "https://api.emailit.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:EMAILIT_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Try it

> "Which Emailit workspace am I connected to?"

> "Add a password reset email to this app using the Emailit Node.js SDK, and send me a test."

> "Create a template called order-confirmation from this HTML file."

> "Why is mail.example.com not verified yet?"

## Disconnect

Open **Account → Connected apps** and choose **Revoke access** next to Cursor. Cursor loses access immediately. Removing the server from **Settings > MCP** only removes it from Cursor.

## Troubleshooting

**The server shows as disconnected.** Go to **Settings > MCP** and choose **Connect** next to **emailit** to sign in again.

**The agent can't see some tools.** Cursor may limit how many tools it loads. Use `?toolsets=` to load only the toolsets you need.

More fixes are in [MCP troubleshooting](/docs/mcp/troubleshooting/).
