# Refer a friend
> Share your Emailit referral link so friends get bonus monthly credits, and earn 5,000 credits per qualified friend plus 10% of the credits they buy.
Every Emailit account has a referral code. Share it, and friends who sign up get extra credits every month while you earn credits you can add to any workspace you manage. This page explains how attribution, qualification and claiming work. For the overview, see [emailit.com/refer](/refer/).

## Find your code and link
Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select **Referrals**. You can also open **Account** and switch to the **Referrals** tab. You'll find:
- **Your referral code**: 8 letters and numbers, for example `K7Q2M9XA`.
- **Share link**: `https://dash.emailit.com/?ref=K7Q2M9XA`. A link to the website, such as `https://emailit.com/?ref=K7Q2M9XA`, works too.
## How attribution works
Your friend gets your code in one of two ways:
- **They open your link.** The code is saved in their browser for 90 days and filled in automatically when they sign up. If they open someone else's link later, the newer code replaces yours.
- **They type it.** On the sign-up form, they select **Do you have a Partner/Referral code?**, enter your code and select **Apply**. The form shows "Invited by" and your first name.
Codes only count at sign-up. Nobody can add a code to an existing account, and each account can have only one partner or referral code.
## What your friend gets
If the sign-up is eligible, the first workspace your friend creates gets +5,000 included credits every month. While that workspace is on Pro or Business, the bonus is +10,000. It's added to the plan's included credits and shows in their billing as "+5,000 included credits / month from the Referral code used at sign-up". Other workspaces they create or join don't get it.
## What you get
### 5,000 credits per qualified friend
A referral **qualifies** once your friend completes all four steps on their first workspace:
1. **Email verified** — they confirm their email address.
2. **Sending domain verified** — they [verify a sending domain](/docs/domains/verification/).
3. **Production access** — the workspace is approved for [production](/docs/workspaces/production-access/).
4. **First email delivered** — at least one email is delivered to a recipient.
Emailit checks progress about every 10 minutes. You earn 5,000 credits for each of your first 20 qualified friends.
### 10% of their credit purchases
You also earn credits equal to 10% of the credits your friend buys: one-time purchases and auto-refills, on any workspace they own. Subscription payments don't count. This share has no cap and starts with their first purchase, even before they qualify.
For example, if your friend buys $100 of credits on Pro, they get 1,000,000 credits and you earn 100,000.
## Track your referrals
The **Referrals** tab shows:
- **Signed up**, **Eligible**, **Qualified** (one-time bonuses earned) and **Credits earned** (including how many you've already claimed).
- **People you referred**, with a masked **Account** address, **Joined**, **Status**, **Progress** (for example "2 of 4 steps done") and **Credits earned**.

| **Qualified** | All four steps are done. The 5,000-credit bonus is earned, unless you've reached 20. |
| **In progress** | The friend is eligible but hasn't finished the steps. |
| **Not eligible** | "This sign-up did not meet the program terms, so it does not earn rewards." |
### Who isn't eligible
A sign-up doesn't earn rewards, and the friend doesn't get the monthly bonus, when it's:
- A self-referral, meaning your own account or email address.
- From a disposable email address.
- From an IP address another Emailit account already signed up from.
- From an IP address you've signed in from.
## Claim your credits
Rewards collect under **Unclaimed credits** until you move them into a workspace.
1. **Select Claim credits.** On the **Referrals** tab, select **Claim credits**.
2. **Choose a workspace.** Pick a **Workspace** where you're an Admin. If you aren't an admin anywhere, you see "You need to be an admin of a workspace to claim credits."
3. **Confirm.** Select **Add N credits**. All unclaimed credits move to that workspace at once.
Claimed credits are added as purchased credits, so they never expire. You can claim into a different workspace each time.
### Refunds
If a friend's credit purchase is refunded, the matching share of your 10% reward is taken back, in proportion to the refund. It's deducted from your unclaimed credits.
## FAQ
Can my friend add my code after signing up?
No. Codes only apply at sign-up, through your link or the **Do you have a Partner/Referral code?** field.
Do I earn anything when my friend subscribes to Pro or Business?
Not from the subscription itself. You earn 10% of credit purchases and auto-refills. Your friend's monthly bonus doubles to +10,000 while they're on a paid plan.
What happens after 20 qualified friends?
You stop earning the one-time 5,000-credit bonus, but you keep earning 10% of every credit purchase your referrals make.
Can I use my own referral link for a second account?
No. Self-referrals, reused IP addresses and disposable email addresses aren't eligible.
Do referral credits expire?
No. Unclaimed credits wait on the **Referrals** tab, and claimed credits never expire.
