# Templates

> Design versioned email templates with drag and drop, rich text or HTML. Variables, defaults and conditionals with Temple. Shared across API, campaigns and automations.

Templates for every team. Designers drag and drop, writers use rich text, developers paste HTML. Everyone publishes versioned templates the API, campaigns and automations share.

## At a glance

- **3** editors: drag and drop, rich text and HTML
- **Versions** with one published version per alias
- **Temple** variables, defaults and conditionals
- **ZIP** import and export with HTML and JSON

## One library for the whole company

Browse every template with live thumbnails, editor badges and versions. Search, sort, duplicate and reuse in campaigns, automations and the API.

- Searchable template picker everywhere
- Save any campaign as a template
- Import Dragit JSON, HTML or ZIP

## The right editor for each person

Dragit gives designers blocks, image uploads and a CDN. Rich text keeps newsletters simple. The HTML editor gives developers full control.

- Drag and drop with responsive blocks
- Hosted images, no external CDN needed
- Raw HTML with live preview

## Personalization that doesn’t break

Temple renders variables, nested paths, defaults and conditionals at send time. Missing data falls back gracefully instead of leaving {{blanks}}.

- Same syntax in API sends and automations
- Defaults for every variable
- Simple merge tags in campaigns

## FAQ

### What is Temple?

Temple is Emailit’s small templating language for subjects, HTML and text. It supports variables, nested paths, defaults and if/else conditionals, and runs on API sends and automation emails.

### Can I bring my own HTML?

Yes. Paste or import any HTML into the code editor, or upload a ZIP with your template and assets.

### Do campaigns support the same variables?

Campaigns use simple merge tags such as {{first_name}}, {{email}}, {{unsubscribe_url}} and custom fields with {{cf.key}}. Temple’s conditionals are available in API and automation sends.
