Introducing Emailit API v2
Starting today, we are slowly rolling out Emailit API v2, bringing significant performance improvements and powerful new features to help you deliver emails more effectively.
What’s New in v2
API v2 is complete rewrite of the API v1. Built from the ground up to be more powerful, more flexible, and more reliable. Earlier this year, we started improving our data center infrastructure and this API v2 is built on top of that.
Performance boost
- 50% faster API processing times
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
New documentation
- Complete rewrite of the documentation
- New API reference
- Dedicated Guides section
Currently available endpoints
- Sending domains
- API Keys
- Audiences
- Subscribers
- Suppressions
We will be adding more endpoints in the coming weeks. Once the API is stable, we will be deprecating API v1.
Goals
In the last 12 months, we have been collecting feedback from our users and understanding what they need.
Fully featured API
We want to make Emailit API the most powerful and flexible API for emailing. This means, that our goal for API v2 is to have all the features available in Emailit Dashboard, will be as well available in API v2.
Reliable and scalable
Our new data center infrastructure is built to be reliable and scalable. We are using the latest and greatest technology to ensure that our API is always available.
Later this September, our data center will have a backup power supply and will be able to handle any power outage. This is a step closer to our goal of 100% uptime, by eleminating simple point of failure.
Easy to use
We want to make Emailit API the most easy to use API for emailing. Keeping this in mind, we added examples for all programming languages.
SDKs
Once the API v2 is stable with all endpoints, we will be adding SDKs for most popular programming languages & frameworks.
Want to see a specific programming language or framework? Let us know!
New API keys
We are changing Credentials to API Keys. There have been a lot of confusion around this, so we are making it more clear and easier to manage.
While doing so, we are also adding new features to the API keys:
- API key scope (full, sending)
- Optional API key sending domain (if scope is sending)
- Fully managable API keys via API v2
API v1 deprecation
Don’t worry! API v1 will remain supported until December 2025, giving you plenty of time to migrate. We’ll send migration reminders as the deadline approaches.
Feedback
We are always looking for feedback to improve the API. Please let us know what you think about the new API v2. And what features you would like to see in the future.
