How-to
Emailit for Grok
Connect Grok to Emailit on grok.com, in the Grok Build CLI with the Emailit plugin, or from the xAI API as a remote MCP tool.
Grok connects to the hosted Emailit MCP server in three ways:
- grok.com uses a custom connector.
- Grok Build (the CLI) uses the Emailit plugin, which adds the server plus skills for domain setup, deliverability, campaigns, webhooks and SDK code.
- The xAI API calls Emailit as a remote MCP tool with an API key.
grok.com
-
Add a connector. Open grok.com/connectors and choose New Connector.
-
Enter the URL. Choose Custom and enter
https://api.emailit.com/mcp. -
Sign in. Sign in to Emailit, choose your workspaces and choose Allow access.
On Business and Enterprise plans, an admin adds the connector in the xAI console first.
Grok Build
Install the Emailit plugin:
grok plugin marketplace add emailit/emailit-plugins
grok plugin install emailit --trustTo add only the server, without the skills:
grok mcp add --transport http emailit https://api.emailit.com/mcpGrok opens a browser window to sign in to Emailit the first time it uses the server.
xAI API
The xAI API can’t open a browser to sign in, so use an API key. Add Emailit as a remote MCP tool:
{
"type": "mcp",
"server_url": "https://api.emailit.com/mcp",
"server_label": "emailit",
"authorization": "your_api_key"
}Use allowed_tools to limit which Emailit tools the model can call, for example ["send-email", "get-email"]. The key’s workspace and scope decide what the model can do; a Sending Only key limits it to email tools.
Try it
“Which Emailit workspace am I connected to?”
“List my domains and tell me which ones still need DNS records.”
“Send the welcome template to jane@example.com with her first name set to Jane.”
Disconnect
For grok.com and Grok Build, open AccountConnected apps and choose Revoke access next to Grok. For the xAI API, delete or regenerate the API key under Email APIAPI Keys.
See the tool reference for everything Grok can do.
