Workspace settings
A tour of Workspace > Settings: general settings, members, custom fields, data retention, automatic suppression and requests, and which ones need an admin.
WorkspaceSettings is the hub for everything that configures a workspace as a whole. This page describes each section, what you can change there and whether you need the Admin role.
Settings at a glance
The page has two groups of cards.
| Group | Section | What it does | Who can change it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact settings | Custom fields | Add extra fields to contacts | Admins and Members |
| Contact settings | Subscribe options | Not available yet, marked Soon | — |
| Contact settings | System templates | Not available yet, marked Soon | — |
| Workspace settings | General | Workspace name and sending health | Admins |
| Workspace settings | Members | Members, invitations and invite codes | Admins |
| Workspace settings | Data retention | How long email data is kept | Admins, with the add-on |
| Workspace settings | Suppressions | Automatic bounce and complaint suppression | Admins, on Pro or Business |
| Workspace settings | Requests | Requests to the Emailit team and their status | Admins request verification. Anyone can reply. |
Everyone in the workspace can open every section. If you aren’t allowed to change something, the controls are disabled or saving returns “Admin access required”.
Billing isn’t part of Settings. It has its own page under WorkspaceBilling. See Billing.
General
- Sending health. A card with the workspace’s sending health score from 0 to 100 and its status, based on the bounce rate of your recent mail. See Sending health.
- Workspace settings. Change the Workspace name and select Save. The name appears in the workspace switcher and in emails Emailit sends about the workspace.
Members
Invite people by email or with an invite code, change roles and remove members. The list shows Email, Role, Joined and 2FA. See Members and roles and Invitations.
Custom fields
Define extra fields for contacts, such as plan or birthday. Field types are Text, Number, Date, Boolean, Select and Multi select. Each field has a unique key you use in merge tags, like {{cf.plan}}. Deleting a field also deletes its values on every contact. See Custom fields.
Data retention
Choose how long Emailit keeps Message contents, Message activity, Logs and Analytics. Each selector shows the plan default, for example Plan default (7 days), and custom windows of 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180 or 365 days.
Custom windows need the Data retention add-on. Without it, the page shows “Custom data retention is not available” and your plan defaults apply. See Data retention and Add-ons.
Suppressions
Control Automatic suppression, which adds recipients to your suppression list when messages bounce or a spam complaint arrives.
- Enable automatic suppression: on or off.
- Suppress on: Bounces and Complaints, Bounces only or Complaints only.
On Pro and Business, admins can change both settings. On other plans, automatic suppression is always on for bounces and complaints, and the page shows a Pro badge: “A Pro or Business subscription is required to change these settings.” To manage individual entries, go to Email APISuppressions. See Suppressions.

Requests
Track requests you’ve sent to the Emailit team: Workspace Verification, Custom plan and Dedicated IP. The list shows Type, Status and Submitted. Select a request to see your answers and the conversation with the team. Select Request Verification to apply for production access. See Workspace requests and Production access.
