Overview

A workspace holds your domains, API keys, emails, contacts, members and billing. Learn to create and switch workspaces, sandbox mode and per-workspace limits.

Updated Oct 1, 2026

A workspace is the container for everything you send with Emailit. Use one per product, brand, environment or client, and invite the people who work on it. This page explains what a workspace holds, how sandbox and production modes work, and which limits apply per workspace.

What belongs to a workspace

Everything except your personal login lives in a workspace:

  • Sending: sending domains, API keys, emails and their logs, templates, webhooks, suppressions, events and analytics.
  • Marketing: contacts, custom fields, audiences, campaigns, forms and automations.
  • Team: members, roles, invitations and invite codes.
  • Billing: plan, included and purchased credits, add-ons, payment method, billing email and invoices.
  • Settings: name, data retention, automatic suppression and requests to the Emailit team.

Nothing is shared between workspaces. An API key only works in its own workspace, and a domain verified in one workspace must be added and verified again in another.

How it works

Your account can belong to many workspaces, with a role in each. The dashboard shows one workspace at a time:

  • URL. Dashboard pages use the pattern https://dash.emailit.com/<workspace-id>/<page>, for example https://dash.emailit.com/w1a2b3c4d/dashboard. Opening https://dash.emailit.com takes you to the last workspace you used.
  • Switch. Select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, search your workspaces and pick one.
  • Create. In the same menu, select Create Workspace and enter a name. You become its owner and an Admin.
  • Rename. Admins can rename a workspace under WorkspaceSettingsGeneral.

The person who creates a workspace is its owner. The owner is always an Admin, can’t be removed, and receives domain, webhook and sending health alerts. See Members and roles.

Workspaces can’t be deleted from the dashboard. Email support@emailit.com if you need one closed.

Sandbox and production

Every new workspace starts in sandbox mode. The dashboard shows a banner: “This workspace is not verified. Emails can only be sent to workspace members’ account emails.”

Sandbox Production
Recipients Only the account emails of workspace members Anyone
Campaigns Blocked Allowed
API sends to other recipients 403 with unverified_workspace_recipient Accepted
SMTP to other recipients 550 at RCPT TO Accepted

To move to production, an admin verifies a sending domain and requests production access. The Emailit team reviews the request. Each new workspace needs its own approval. See Production access.

Suspended workspaces

If a workspace’s bounce rate gets too high, Emailit suspends it. The dashboard shows Workspace suspended: “New mail will not send until support restores this workspace.” While suspended:

  • API requests that change data, such as sending email, return 403 Workspace is suspended. Read requests still work.
  • Queued email is held instead of delivered.
  • The owner receives “Your Emailit workspace has been suspended”.

Contact support@emailit.com to restore the workspace. See Sending health.

Limits are per workspace

Plans, credits and limits belong to a workspace, not to your account. Each workspace has its own plan, credit balance, sending limits and domain allowance, and upgrading one workspace doesn’t change the others.

New workspaces also start at 2 emails per second and 5,000 emails per day. See Limits and quotas.

Partner and referral bonus

If you signed up with a partner or referral code, the monthly bonus credits go to the first workspace you create. Workspaces you create later, or join with an invitation, don’t get the bonus. See Refer a friend and Partner program.
