What workspace Owners, Admins and Members can do in Emailit, how to change a member's role or remove them, and how AppSumo member caps work.

Updated Oct 1, 2026

Every person in a workspace has a role that decides what they can change. This page lists exactly what each role can do, and how admins manage the member list. To add people, see Invitations.

Roles

Role Description in the dashboard Who has it
Owner Not a separate role. The owner is an Admin who can’t be removed or demoted. The person who created the workspace
Admin “Full access to workspace settings, members and billing.” The owner, and anyone given the Admin role
Member “Can manage emails, campaigns, contacts and templates.” The default for invitations, and everyone who joins with an invite code

The member list shows Owners as Admin.

If a Member tries an admin-only action, the dashboard shows “Admin access required”. Your role doesn’t affect API keys: an API key has its own scope, no matter who created it.

Manage members

Open WorkspaceSettingsMembers. The list shows Email, Role, Joined and 2FA for every member, plus pending invitations. You can search and filter it.

Change a member’s role

  1. Open the menu. Select the … button on the member’s row and choose Change Role.

  2. Pick the role. Choose Admin or Member and save.

You can’t change your own role, and nobody can change the owner’s role. To step down as an admin, ask another admin to change your role.

Remove a member

Select … > Remove on the member’s row and confirm. They lose access to the workspace immediately, but keep their Emailit account and any other workspaces.

You can’t remove yourself, and the owner can’t be removed. Emails, keys and other data a removed member created stay in the workspace. If they had access to API keys, regenerate the keys they knew.

Two-factor column

The 2FA column shows Enabled when a member signs in with an authenticator app and Disabled when they use emailed codes. Invitations show Pending, and Unknown means the status couldn’t be loaded. See Two-factor authentication and passkeys.

Member limits

Workspaces have no member limit, except workspaces with an AppSumo license. A license tier allows as many members as its tier number: tier 1 allows 1 member, tier 6 allows 6. Pending email invitations count toward the cap. When the cap is reached, inviting another person fails with “This AppSumo license includes N workspace member(s).”
